For Those Working for Allah, Some Goals to Pursue in Life

Aug 2, 2012

Those working for Allah must realize that our success or failure in this world – as well as in the next world – will be judged, and determined, based on six things – among all the other things Allah chooses to judge us by.

  1. How sincere and true we are in our own hearts and minds, all the time and with regard to everything, and how free we are from any taint of selfish aims, purposes, goals and pursuit of self-centered outcomes for ourselves and ours.

  2. How sincere and true we are with our coworkers in our bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood and fellowship of work with them, always loving them, respecting them, caring for them and putting them ahead of all others, including ourselves, to the extent we can.

  3. How sincere and true we are with Allah and his Rasul, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam – and the most noble and glorious Qur’an.

  4. How sincere and true we are in our love and respect and solicitation for the Ummat of Sayyidina Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam: Al-Mu’mineena wal Mu’minaat wal Muslimeena wal Muslimaat.

  5. How sincere and true we are in our love and respect and solicitation for the entire Khalq – creation – of Allah: Muslim or non-Muslim; animal or human; or something else.

  6. How rightly or wrongly, how diligently or sloppily, how well or badly, and how smartly or foolishly we devise, plan, implement and carry out our actions in this world.

Our success and failure in this world as well as in the next world will depend on these six things..

  1. And, of course, it will depend, entirely and completely and without exception, and above and beyond all other considerations and factors, on the will and mercy and love and Grace and Rahmat of Almighty Allah.

As Sayyidina Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, put it, the best I recall words:

Illaa Anyyataghammadiniyallahu Birahmatihi!

Implying thereby that even he, Rasulullah, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, himself sent into this world as Rahmatullil 'Aalameen – an ever-flowing fountain of love and mercy and grace and Rahmat and compassion and beneficence for all the worlds – has no hope or recourse except in and through the all-enveloping love and Rahmat of Allah, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

So, all of you working for Allah anywhere in any form, please pay attention and take note and make necessary adjustments in your attitudes, approaches and actions.

Allahummarham Ummata Muhammadin, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam!

Allahummaltuf bi-Ummati Muhammadin, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam!

Allahumma Akrim Ummata Muhammadin, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam!

Allahummaghfir li-Ummati Muhammadin, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam!

Allahumma Nawwir Qulooba Ummati Muhammadin, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, bi-Nooril Iman!

Allahumma Nawwir Qulooba Ummati Muhammadin, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, bi-Nooril Qur’an

END
