Letter to a Stranger
Who Seems to Be Doing Some Good Work for His Country —
And For His People [Quote – 953]

Aug 20, 2019

Thank you for replying.

Muslims, Allah bless them, do not like to communicate. Just imagine what this world would be like if only Muslims, once again, became great communicators, the way they used to be not so long ago.

After all, Ghalib and Iqbal were Muslims were they not? Do you know any other communicator — “poet” if you prefer — who was, or who to this day is, better than them or who can match them in any language or culture, in any period of human history?

Muslims of course like to bury that light in a closet by referring to Iqbal as Sha’ir-e-Mashriq

Really? What about Sha’ir-e-Aalam?

Forgive my intrusion. For, that is what this is: an intrusion on your time and kindness and indulgence.

But do allow me to say that the best thing for a human being is to Work for Allah. There is no better work than that for anyone, anywhere, at any time. For, that was the reason God created us in the first place.

If we cannot do that, whatever our reasons or excuses, the least we all can do is to work for all of humanity and to save and serve the entire world without limitations or distinctions of any kind.

If we can’t do even that, then there is no more of a bottomline, as they say, than to serve our own native land, and our own native people. And do so most devoutly and diligently and sincerely.

True and sincere Patriotism, that does not lapse into any kind of ChauvinismFascism and Jingoism, of the kind we see raising its ugly head in India today under Mr. Narendra Modi and Mr. Amit Shah, and the RSS and the BJP, is the least that can be expected of any decent and civilized human being anywhere.

In the West or in the East.

Thank you and God Bless You and your family for the wonderful work you are doing. May the Almighty purify the intention and Niyyat of all us. And may he also help and guide us to do the right thing, in the right way, and for the right reason.
