Muslim Gives Election Advice to American People [Quote - 762]

I am a Muslim and I want to offer an advice to America and American People.

Don't worry, I am from some part of the world which you won't even find on the map.

And relax, I am not about to make a beeline to America either.

My advice is free, willing and purely in the name of God Almighty.

I am giving this advice to the American People because I am a Muslim, and the job of a Muslim, the way I understand it, is to offer the best advice they can to all and sundry.

Fa-dhakkir, says the Qur'an.

It means "Tell them, give them advice, remind them!"

So, here is my advice to America:

The American people have spoken in the latest presidential election,

The election, to the extent anyone could tell, was by and large fair and above board.

In such a situation, it is only natural and logical that one person wins and the other loses. What other outcome could anyone envisage?

The important point is that the people have spoken. And they are a free people -- Americans I mean -- at least for the most part and in some very basic and important ways.

It is completely understandable that many will be pleased with the outcome while many others will not like the results.

But in the end, everybody has to accept the results, especially the people on the losing side.

The latter have to accept the results and stop grumbling and protesting.

In many ways, this is more or less the best deal we have on the face of this earth: people freely electing their leaders.

America is one country and her people are one people. So this is time for the American People to cooperate with one another in all that which is good, as the Qur'an says, and which will make America and the world. a better place -- for all.

Life goes on for everybody. So, maybe, the American People, all of them, should move on also.

Your brother in our common humanity,

Hashim Mohammed.
