Qur'an Program: An Invitation to a Friend

Dr. Pasha

(Bringing Islam to the World One Concept at a Time!
Taking the Qur'an to Every Home and Heart that Needs It --
And which One Does Not?)

Allah bless you Friend! Can't tell you how wonderful it is to hear from you. Every time.

Do give all those wonderful people with you my Salam

Also, allow me to take this opportunity to invite you to join our Weekly Qur'an Khatm Program.

I have no authority in this regard of course. I am just someone who is overcome with excitement and cannot help himself. A messenger boy basically. And I feel strongly that you should be a part of the Qur'an Khatm Program

It is totally non-partisan, non-denominational and purely voluntary. It is just you and the Qur'an. That is it.

And it is a source of blessings for all. For ourselves; for our families and friends; for our community; for our society; and for the world as a whole.

Because that is what the Qur'an is: a source of mercy and blessings for all of God's creation -- should the world choose to believe in it and follow its directives.

It is ultimately the decision of leaders and coordinators to make this thing happen, once you are willing to be a part of the program. We elected our leaders to do our job. Because that is how Islam works.

Islam works through open and fair and free elections. As it did over 1400 years ago, when the world knew nothing about elections or peaceful power transfer or the consent of the governed.

And God Almighty, and Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, and Abu Bakr, and Umar, Radiyallahu Anhuma, showed the world how it is done.

And this is how the Weekly Qur'an Khatm Program works in practice. For every week, each one of us is assigned a Juz of the Qur'an (out of the 30 Juz that the Qur'an has) to be read and completed by Thursday of that week.

And report to the coordinator and the group upon completion.

The Qur'an, of course, should be read in original Arabic and not through Transliteration, which actually some of us consider to be Haram when it is used as the main instrument of reading and reciting the Qur'an.

Because, using Transliteration, it is virtually impossible to pronounce the sounds of the letters of the Qur'an correctly. And so far as the Qur'an is concerned, when you change the sound of the letters -- Makhaarij -- you change the meaning of the words and Aayats of the Qur'an.

And this business of reading one Juz a week is not really a hardship. For, practically all of us now are able to finish a Juz a week fairly consistently.

And almost all of us came up the hard way -- each struggling to negotiate the reading of the Qur'an the hard way that required remarkable patience and persistence. And of course blessings from Allah.

And now Allah makes it easy. Just as he promised and assured us in the Qur'an -- no less than four times in Surah al-Qamar:

Wa Laqad Yassarnal Qur'ana Lidh-Dhikri!

Some of the blessings can only be imagined. Some of them some of us see with our own eyes, pouring down on us in our own daily lives in ways we cannot even imagine.

So, I would like you, My Dear Friend, to become a part of this Weekly Qur'an Khatm Program along with the rest of us. It would make me personally very happy if you did. For, our friendship really springs from our mutual love for the Qur'an.

And from our mutual commitment, I hope, to Take the Qur'an to Every Home and Heart that Needs It -- and Which One Does Not?

For, what better or nobler or more useful undertaking could there be in our lives other than that?

Of course, this entire thing is subject to approval from the leaders and coordinators of the program, as it should be.

Even though the culture of human brotherhood and civic and social integration Islam created stipulates that the word of even the lowest ranked person in the Muslim Community -- a community truly committed and dedicated to Working for Allah -- becomes the bond of that entire community!
