Words fail me when I see the silent mosques. It seems somehow wrong telling the owner of this world how to run his house. But shouldn't there be at least one place on earth, where people -- Hindus, Muslims, Jews, others -- can flock to listen to Allah's word articulated in a clear and powerful way?
How can we live when so many mosques have gone dead?
Muslims -- good, thinking Muslims -- complain about Muslims falling silent. But why wouldn't Muslims go silent? Look at their mosques! Look for how long these houses of Allah have gone silent now?
Houses about which Allah says: Adhinallahu An Turfa'a ... Houses that were meant to be raised.
Mimbars, from which the clarion call of justice and truth -- Haqq -- was supposed to rise and fill the world, have fallen silent.
What face will we show Allah, when we raise our voice for everything, except in the service of truth and justice?
And what fate awaits us right here in this world, when we do everything except to raise aloft the banner of truth and justice?
Who will do it, if not Muslims? And where will anyone do it if not in our mosques?
And yet how loud and deafening is the roar of Muslim silence when it comes to truth and justice!
And how profound and powerful is the silence of the mosques!
