God Talk

Taking the Qur'an to Every Home and Heart that Needs It --
And which One Does Not?)
People talk. They talk all the time.
For, that is what it means to be a human being: Talk, talk, talk.
But the question is what do they talk about?
Answer: They talk about practically everything in the world – and many things that may not even be in the world.
And yet there is one thing they do not talk about. Or they are reluctant to talk about.
Or they don’t put as much effort and energy into talking about.
Or, even, don’t show as much interest or inclination in talking about.
God!
That is who people are often most disinterested in talking about.
Most people would rather talk about anything and everything in the world than talk about God.
Almost as if there is a ban on talking about God.
As if some dark force is holding our tongue and keeping us from talking about God.
And yet the Qur’an is all talk about God: About who God Almighty is; about what he does; about what he likes and does not like.
And the Qur’an is talk about how God prepared the world as a home for human beings.
And about how God’s love overflows everything.
Maybe that should be our excuse to read the Qur’an: To find out who God is; what he does; and how we can talk about him.
And maybe even to him.
And then start talking about him.
And maybe even to him.
Hear the Qur’an say it in Surah Al-Ikhlaas, Surah 112:
Say, he is God, the one.
He transcends everything and he is completely independent of all.
He gave birth to no one.
Nor did any one give birth to him.
Nor is anyone equal to him in any way.
