Islamic Egypt in Perspective

Islamic Egypt? You Better Believe It!

I am calling today’s post-Revolution (January 25, 2011) Egypt “Islamic” only after careful thought. It is not just my hope or prayer but the statement of a simple fact on the ground.

Make no mistake: It is always my fervent hope and my most ardent prayer that God’s world will move ever closer – by the day and by the hour and by the minute – to Allah’s chosen way of Islam.

But the reason why I am calling the present-moment Egypt Islamic is not a wish or a hope or prayer, but a hard and undeniable reality.

Some Reasons Why Egypt Has All of A Sudden Gone Islamic

And here are some reasons for why I dare say Egypt has now gone Islamic:

  1. The Great Egyptian People quietly, but most bravely and patiently, resisted some of the worst form of Zulm and Military Tyranny known to man for over 60 years.

    And that is Islam.

Egyptian Muslims Sacrificed Some of Their Best People

  2. With great dignity and fortitude, the Great Land and People of Egypt sacrificed some of its finest intellects, and some of its bravest and noblest sons and daughters, to the gallows and jails of the Military Tyrants of Egypt over the past more than 60 years.

    And that is Islam.

    Egyptian Muslims Launch a Revolution

  3. The Great Egyptian People finally came out and launched a decisive Revolution, starting from the Liberation (Tahrir) Square in Cairo and spreading to all parts of Egypt, on January 25, 2011 to overthrow the corrupt Military Dictatorship that had forced them to live under Military Emergency Rule for 30 unbroken years.

    And that is Islam.

Egyptian Revolution of 2011 Was Most Peaceful

  4. This Great Egyptian Revolution of January 25, 2011 was clearly under the leadership of Islam and Muslims – from the Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimoon and others such as the Salafis.

    And that is Islam.

  5. This Great Egyptian Revolution of January 25, 2011 was a most peaceful event – such that both Gandhi and Nelson Mandela would have been proud of it had they been present.

    And that is Islam.

Egyptian Muslim Leadership Upheld the Rule of Law

  6. The Muslim leadership of Egypt most diligently and meticulously upheld the rule and dignity of the legal and constitutional process in the land throughout their march to power and freedom.

    And that is Islam.

Egyptian Muslim Leadership’s Complete Trust in God

  7. The Muslim leadership entered national elections in Egypt knowing full well how corrupt the political, judicial, administrative and military machinery was throughout Egypt and how the entire process was rigged against them.

And they fought the elections at every stage, from Parliament to Presidency, fairly, squarely and with complete trust (Tawakkul) in Allah.

    And that is Islam.

Dr. Morsi Wins Stunning Victory against All Odds

  8. Their man, Dr. Morsi, won Egypt’s Presidency, against seemingly insurmountable odds, in elections that can only be described as the fairest and most open in all of Egypt’s history.

    And that is Islam.

    President-Elect Morsi Makes One-Sided Concessions

  9. The President-Elect, Dr. Morsi, thereafter, made the most jaw-dropping one-sided concessions to everyone on every side, including some of his known and worst enemies, in a manner that can only be described as modeled after the seemingly one-sided concessions that Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, offered to the Non-Believers of Makkah at Hudaibiyyah.

    And that is Islam.

President Morsi Picks the Finest Government Team

  10. President Morsi, upon being sworn in, picked the finest and the most capable people to form the government, bypassing all kinds of loyalties and claims, including party loyalties from the Ikhwan of whose Parliamentary Group he was the chairman for all of its life.

    And that is Islam.

Closest to Islam Since Umar bin Abdul Aziz

These are some of the reasons why I choose to call the Post-Revolution Egypt Islamic and the present government of President Morsi the Islamic Government of Egypt.

This is the closest real Islam has come to having political power since the time of Umar bin Abdul Aziz.

Not because Dr. Morsi is a good and God-fearing man, which he is. But because an Islamic Government is one in which the power either rests in the People, or because it is restored to the People, as was done by Umar bin Abdul Aziz, after some others had usurped it from the People.

The People then, of their own free choice, elect the individuals they want to be their rulers, as they did in the case of Umar bin Abdul Aziz.

Dr. Morsi: A Good and God-Fearing Man

At the same time, Dr. Morsi, to the extent we know, is a good man, visibly moved by a deep and genuine fear of God Almighty. His personal humility, both in public and private, seems to know no bounds.

And yet, he is neither a political turncoat nor a moral coward. In fact, when I saw him talk to a reporter on television, the words “Asadun Min Usudillah!” almost involuntarily escaped my lips – an Arabic expression which means: “One of God’s Lions!”

And I had not watched him for more than a few minutes.

But clearly Dr. Morsi is a Man of Destiny.

Dr. Morsi Recreates Khilafat Raashidah

By the Grace of Almighty Allah, President Morsi’s government in Cairo today is as faithful a recreation of the Khilafat Raashidah of Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali (Radiyallahu Anhum) as it is possible for human beings to have in this world, before the advent of Mahdi, Alaihis Salam.

This is the real face of what the enemies of Islam and Muslims have often derogatively referred to as Political Islam.

Islam Is a Message of Mercy to All

I have always believed, and I have articulated it in every way I could, that Islam is exactly what its maker and owner, God Almighty, says it is: Rahmatul Lil-Aalameen, just like the messenger Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam, who brought it into this world – A Message of Mercy to All.

What else can it be, if it is from Ar-Rahman and Ar-Raheem and if it has arrived in this world at the hands of Rahmatul Lil-Aalameen?

Morsi Is Good News to the Whole World

As a result, by the Grace of Almighty God, Ikhwan and Dr. Morsi coming to power in Egypt is good news for the world – for friends as well as for enemies; for the East as well as for the West; for the so-called Middle East as well as for Europe, America, Africa, Asia and the rest of the world.

It is the beginning of a new era of Islam for all, which means peace and love and joy – for all. For, that is what Islam is – A Message of Mercy to All!

Islam Is Pursuit of Truth and Justice for All

This does not mean that Truth and Justice shall not be pursued domestically in Egypt as well as internationally, for, Islam requires us to pursue Truth and Justice all the time and in every way we can.

And do so for all – again, without the distinction of foe and friend.

Truth without Hate and Justice without Revenge

But the pursuit of Truth and Justice this time around – at the hands of President Morsi, the Islamic Government of Egypt and the Ikhwan and other sincere and well-meaning Muslims both inside and outside Egypt – shall be sincere, serious, non-partisan, non-vengeful, universal and undertaken with a human face and with a great deal of compassion for all.

And it will be as closely and strongly wedded to the ideals of Peace on Earth as it is possible for any human enterprise to be.

Not a Propaganda Piece

And it will not be a propaganda exercise to establish the domination of some over others and to exploit the weakness of some to divide and conquer them and plunder their wealth and resources for the benefit of others.

Therefore, it is my desire – intention is a strong word – to bring to www.IslamicSolutions.com glimpses of the Islamic Government of Egypt from time to time. To the extent I can – to the extent Almighty Allah enables me to do so.

God Bless and Save Dr. Morsi – and God Bless America!

So, God Bless and Save President Morsi, the Ikhwan, the Islamic Government of Egypt – and the beautiful world that he created for all of us.

And may God Bless America – my beloved home! – and all of God’s beautiful world.

At the same time, to say what I thus far did does not mean I agree with, support or endorse everything President Morsi, the Ikhwan, the Islamic Government of Egypt or anyone else anywhere does or says, or have done in the past, or will do so in future.

Islam Is Autonomy of Thought and Action

Islam has drilled into every pore in my body, mind, psyche and soul a fierce autonomy of thought and action and complete freedom of belief and conscience and behavior.

And that is not something I am willing to surrender, or have ever surrendered or compromised, to anyone – other than, of course, the creator who made me.

And of course his Rasul, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam.

For a Believer, the Buck Stops with God

For a Believer, the buck, as they say, stops with God Almighty. That means, so far a Believer is concerned, God’s decision is final in all matters.

And so is the decision of God’s Messenger, Muhammad, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam.

The Qur’an makes it crystal clear:

Maa Kaana Li-Mu’minin Wa Laa Mu’minatin, Idhaa Qadwallahu Wa Rasuluhu Amran, Anyyakoona Lahumul Khiyaratu Min Amrihim (Al-Ahzaab: 36).

Paraphrase:

“A Believer, male or female, has no choice once a certain matter has been decided by God and his Messenger, Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam” (33:36).

Don't Miss the Miracle!

While you are reading the above last two lines of translation of the Qur’an, don't miss the Living and Forever Miracle that is jumping out at you from the pages of the Qur'an: the expression "male as well as female" in that above Aayat.

Ask yourself who put it there? Who added that word "female" to the mix?

And what was the need for saying "as well as female" along with “male”?

And that too in the early part of the 7th Century, when everything about everything in every culture and in practically every part of the world was about "man" and "male."

It is obvious that it was God who placed that expression "as well as female" in that context and only God could have done that.

For, the human mind in those days was not geared to think in those terms – in terms of granting equality to women along with men, even in the way people spoke or wrote.

Even to the most sophisticated human mind, those days, everything good was about "man" and "male" and nothing good was ever about "woman" or "female."

That is why the Qur'an is a Living Book of Miracles from God Almighty!

Every passage (Aayat) of the Qur’an is a sign and a living testimony that this book could only have come from God.

Wake up and take note!
